POWER PLANT RENDERINGS
Engineers need architectural 3D exterior rendering as a visualization tool too! Studio2a was engaged by the power plant engineering firm to provide bird-eye views in 3D aerial renderings to help make design decisions. One of the design issues under review was the color to paint the new Nevada power plant. The zoning committee requested 3d renderings be provided by our client. More specifically the renderings of the 3d power plant were to be created in the specified paint colors.
Using 3d renderings allow for faster design iteration. Quickly test and evaluate design options. Showing different color palettes options side by side is easy in 3d. Renderings of the 3d power plant provided more value to the client and created a more successful project outcome. Working in photo-real detail will identify potential design issues before construction starts. This will help avoid costly construction delays and can save a lot of time, headaches, and money in the long run.
Never underestimate the importance of picking paint colors, and the value of visualization to the process. Originally planned to be painted “sky” color it was later determined that the “sand” color was less obtrusive to the surroundings. These images were from a set of composited photos showing the planned power plant in the local environment. Once the photomontage was complete it was clear which color was better. In addition, one close up rendering showing all of the equipment and components of the project was also produced in both colors for committee approval. Once the 3d power plant engineering model is done, adding more renderings or views is easy.
The final “sand” color (pantone 467) rendering was printed 8′ long and used as a backdrop for the press conference announcing the project. Need help picking paint colors for your project?
